Assist in the production process from order to completion. Responsible for ensuring orders are filled in a timely manner, meeting or exceeding customer requests, and supporting department goals. The Production Tech III will blend or assist in the production of chemical products, load/unloading trucks, prepare shipments and comply with all Kurita safety requirements, policies, and procedures, and maintain the production area in operational condition. All work must be done in a safe, efficient manner that meets or exceeds our quality standards. The Production Tech III should make recommendations for ordering raw materials to include chemical and containers, suggest finished material inventory level based on product flow, offer process improvements, and file ANMS reports to the Shift lead as appropriate.

 

We have an immediate need for a Production Technician in our Kitchener, Ontario facility.

 

Title:  Production Technician

Location: Kitchener Ontario production facility. 

Travel: N/A 80-100%

Salary:  $50K to $55K (CAD) 

 

Responsibilities

  • Maintain a safe work environment by using the proper PPE and following all work
  • Accountable for producing, repackaging or relabeling chemicals in accordance with Kurita’s quality control procedures, including completing and maintaining batch tickets, labels and other order details.
  • Collecting chemical and hazardous / non-hazardous waste samples as required.
  • Learn and maintain training in chemical segregation, hazardous waste manifesting, hazardous waste recordkeeping, hazardous waste labeling, TDG regulations compliance
  • Able to perform hazardous waste inspections and hazardous waste maintain training on identifying and managing hazardous waste spills.
  • Maintain training on emergency preparedness and what to do in an emergency
  • Ensure compliance and understanding of accumulation time for hazardous waste.
  • Maintain TDG (every 3 years) for shipping/receiving of hazardous goods and hazardous waste.
  • Prepare shipments , verify labeled and documented properly before
  • Accurately track lot numbers of all products shipped from warehouse on Bill of Lading (BOL) and on the warehouse Use chemical on a First In, First Out (FIFO) basis preventing the spoiling of product by properly identifying lot numbers.
  • Ability to manage empty containers and prepare empty containers for shipment
  • Tag and track returned chemical per Returned Materials
  • Ability to pick raw materials, transfers, and orders as required by WMS
  • Assist in annual and cycle inventory
  • Maintain all production equipment (e.g. forklift, pumps, hoses, fittings). Work with Maintenance and/or Shift Lead to schedule needed
  • Responsible for the cleanliness of plant, grounds, and production
  • Assist Shift Lead by coordinating work flow/information between shifts, QC, and
  • Conduct QC sampling and testing, involves logging results for ISO or NSF compliance
  • Request from the Plant Manager non-chemical products to include operating supplies, safety supplies, labels, and office supplies.
  • Back up other positions as necessary.
  • Train and perform job shadowing for new production techs
  • Other duties as assigned by Shift Lead or Plant Manager.

  • Similar industrial production experience will be considered as
  • Willing to work overtime when
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to identify and manage process improvement
  • Must demonstrate the following skills: communication, multitasking, high level of attention to detail, and thrive in a team environment.

 

Physical and Mental requirements: Being able to do the following in a safe and effective manner.

  • Mechanical abilities and aptitude combined with the following physical requirements: lift 55lbs, use forklifts, and wear respirator and other PPE.
  • Climbing, ascending, and descending ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, poles and industrial equipment, using feet and legs and/or hands and arms.
  • Reaching and extending hands and arms in any direction.
  • Standing and walking for sustained periods of time.
  • Pushing, pulling, lifting, bending, and stooping for sustained periods of time.
  • Using upper extremities to move objects and equipment with steady force.
  • Sometimes working in temperatures above 100 degrees for periods of more than one hour.
