Title: R&D Lab Technician
Location: Brooklyn Park, MN
Shift: Days - Monday-Friday 8:00am-5:00pm
Salary: $60-70K/yr
The R&D Laboratory Technician is responsible for conducting routine testing of water and other samples in support of customers, the field sales team, and internal stakeholders. This position supports product development initiatives, production plant operations, and senior R&D staff, while also contributing to long-term research projects. The role requires independent work on assigned product development activities, precise data collection, and strong record-keeping skills.
· Participate in product development projects and long-term R&D studies with minimal supervision.
· Evaluation of raw materials
· Log in, prepare and conduct routine testing (pH, conductivity, hardness, and ion analysis) and prepare water samples for advanced testing by senior laboratory staff.
· Calibrate, operate, and monitor automated laboratory instruments; record observations, interpret results, and document findings.
· Carry out general laboratory duties, including glassware cleaning, sample preparation and shipping, and reagent organization and labeling.
· Compile data accurately, organize information, and perform calculations as needed.
· Support production and operations teams with laboratory-based testing and problem-solving.
· Other duties as assigned by the manager.
· Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or related sciences. Equivalent years of direct experience can be substituted in lieu of degree
· 3+ years of laboratory experience, R&D or engineering experience preferred.
· Knowledge of lab safety procedures and SOPs
· Experience in water treatment preferred
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to:
· Ability to stand for extended periods while conducting experiments or working at a lab bench.
· Frequent use of hands and fingers for handling small instruments, pipetting, and performing precise tasks.
· Ability to lift and move objects up to [25-50] pounds (e.g., chemical containers, lab equipment).
· Good vision, including color differentiation, for reading measurements, labels, and performing detailed observations.
· Occasional bending, reaching, and crouching to access equipment and storage areas.
· Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE), such as gloves, lab coats, safety glasses, and masks, for prolonged periods.
